How can I send mail to Belle?

*UPDATED*

I LOVE letters!!  So...if anyone is interested in sending me letters or packages please send them to my personal P.O. Box below that I will be using throughout the next two years of my service:

Varitara Belle Archaphorn, PCV
P.O. Box 386
Tukuyu, Mbeya
Tanzania
East Africa

To more likely ensure that mail will get to me, you can follow these tips below.

Mailing Tips and Tricks:
  • Regular letters are $1.05, I believe.
  • Mail is slow in Tanzania, so it would be beneficial if you date them and number the letter(s) you write me, especially if you plan to write me more than once.  This will also help gauge how long it takes for mail to arrive.
  • Packages will take more or less than one month to get to me, so if you're planning on sending anything, make sure it's perishable!  :)
  • ALWAYS write "airmail" on your envelopes.
  • Address packages in red ink.
  • Padded envelopes are less likely to get searched than boxes.  The lighter it is, the better (and cheaper).
  • On customs forms, try to be vague and list things that do not seem as valuable or more likely to be searched/opened.  For example, "Education Materials" or "Religious Supplies"
  • If you feel up to it, send an inventory list inside the package.  This will lessen the likelihood of things being stolen.
  • Don't list the value of any package as more than $10, because that will boost up the customs/duty fees!
  • Avoid postcards, unless you put them in an envelope, because those will more likely be lost in transit and may be put up on a post office wall.
  • You can add religious stickers, symbols, verses, etc. to packages to ensure arrival and that all items are intact.
